This is the moment for active solidarity to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano affirmed on Saturday, noting that the Government is making all efforts to mitigate this crisis nationwide.

In statements made from Air Group N° 8 —prior to undertaking a trip to the southern city of Arequipa— the high-ranking official specified that it is important to join all efforts possible at these times.

"I must emphasize the fact that there is not only State aid this time, as we also deliver an important contribution from private companies, which must be highlighted; this is the moment for active solidarity," he expressed.

"This is a problem that involves all of us as Peruvians; now the objective is to defeat the pandemic and reopen the country economically (speaking). This is not the moment for confrontation; if there are legitimate claims, they will be addressed within a framework of dialogue," he assured reporters.

This trip will also allow the transfer of healthcare personnel to strengthen medical care in the White City, where COVID-19 cases have increased significantly.

Prime Minister Cateriano is accompanied by Ministers Jorge Montenegro (Agriculture-Irrigation), Rafael Belaunde (Energy-Mines), and Pilar Mazzetti (Health), as well as by the head of the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) Jorge Luis Chavez.
